Dune Ready® Checklist: - The following lists basic items to be Dune Ready®...at least at Michigan's Silver Lake Sand Dunes.
- Dune Ready Vehicle (4WD or AWD with recommended tow points front and rear)
- Dune Flag and Mounting Hardware - 10' High Standing Still/8' High Under Motion - International Orange, Solid Rectangular Material-5"Hx10"L (sold by gas stations and shops around Silver Lake Sand dunes $20-$40)
- Michigan State Park Day Pass or Annual Sticker ($6-day/$24-year sold at park entrance)
- Michigan Off-Road Vehicle Permit ($16.25 ORV sticker sold at park entrance, Meijer sporting goods department, and rental shops around Silver Lake Sand Dunes)
- Dune Ready Voucher During Peak-Season Weekends - Morning or Afternoon Entry (free and available Friday evenings at Silver Lake Sand Dunes State Park Off-Road Office)
- Parking Lot Voucher During Peak-Season Weekends - Time-Specific Entry (free and available Friday evenings at Silver Lake Sand Dunes State Park Off-Road Office for vehicles requiring trailering/towing to the dunes)
- Low-Pressure Tire Gauge Capable of Sub-10 psi Readings (approx. $9 from autoparts stores and Tractor Supply)
- Vehicle Recovery Strap or Vehicle-Mounted Winch
- 2-Way Radios and Batteries/Cell Phone (maybe an extra pair for group outtings to share)
- Basic Tools (minimally socket wrench set and crescent wrench to install/remove flag, duct tape, tie-wraps)
- Hi-Lift Jack with Soft Sand Base
- Fire Extinguisher
- Occupant Helmets (as required according to vehicle and configuration)
- Extra Quart of Motor Oil (optionally other engine fluids)
- Personal Comfort Items (Botttled water, Snacks, Sunscreen, Sunglasses/Goggles, Layered Clothing, Eye Drops)
- Bandages and First-Aid Kit
- Camera
