How-To Dune Tips - Safety Awareness
"Safety is the single most important aspect of being Dune Ready!®"
Safety Awareness: - First and foremost, is SAFETY!! The potential for accidents is always present and safety must be the first priority of all duners at all times. A safety mindset is an essential mental "checklist" item more important than the physical items as the seatbelts, helmets, flags, and permits. The adrenaline rush of sand and speed easily sweeps aside everday common sense making it difficult to resist emotional, macho-ambitions to out-do others and yourself. Above and beyond physical vehicle damage, driving vehicles on sand dunes carries extreme risk of major personal injury, paralysis, and death to you and your passengers. Tragically, every season has first-timers and long-time duners paralyzed or killed on days that began with innocent anticpation of fun on the sand. Respect the dunes, anticipate improper actions by other vehicles on the dunes, never over-estimate your dune driving skills, or under-estimate steepness or unsafe surfaces. Follow the rules and have good, clean, sandy fun and remember to get, stay, and be...Dune Ready®!
